ARACNE A WIRE OF ART THROUGH THE MUSEUMS AND ECOMUSEUMS OF CASENTINO

ARACNE

A thread of art through the museums and the Casentino Ecomuseums

The Casentino Museums and Ecomuseums have for many years established a strong bond of collaboration that has fostered constant growth in terms of presence and quality of cultural offers. To establish this link this summer a thread of art will link the museums and the ecomuseums with the preparation of the widespread exhibition "ARACNE: a thread of art through the museums and the Casentino Ecomuseums".

The exhibition consists of a series of installations inspired by the most famous works of modern and contemporary art, created with the form of street art called "urbanknitting". Through the techniques of knitting and crochet, the cornerstones of the history of art have been reproduced as "The Room of Arles" by Vincent Van Gogh and "Guernica" by Picasso, objects of the collective imagination of the last century as the famous Rubik's Cube the Duchamp bicycle wheel. In other cases, the works, some of which created ad hoc, will interact with the collections and architectures of some ecomuseums, suggesting unexpected and ironic interpretations.

These and many other works will be set up in the Museums, in the Ecomuseums and inside the Castello di Poppi from June 16 to October 31, to create a colorful and imaginative route between the main museum structures of the Casentino. The Museums and the Ecomuseums involved are the Museum of the Art of the Wool of Stia, the Archaeological Museum of the Casentino di Bibbiena, the Museum of the Woods and the Mountain of Stia, Mulin di Bucchio,

the Castle of Porciano, the Ecomuseo della Castagna di Raggiolo, the Casa Rossi Rural Collection of Soci, the Doc. Center of the Rural Culture of Castel Focognano and the Castello di Poppi. The official opening of the exhibition will take place on Saturday 16 June at 5.00 pm at the Museo dell'Arte della Lana. At 6.00 pm at the Museum of the Woods and the Mountain in Stia a "zero km" aperitif will be offered and followed by "KNIT IN PUBLIC": free workshop and meeting with the world of "knickers" open to everyone at WORLD WIDE KNIT IN PUBLIC DAY which will be repeated on June 17th at 11:00 am in Piazza Tanucci in Stia.

The exhibited works are made by the "On the edge of art" association. The "Sul Filo dell'Arte" Association was born in Monza (MB) by a group of women united by the ideal but real thread, which is the interest for knitting and crochet and the pleasure and the desire to be together , socialize and share with all generations, the craftsmanship of working with yarns. "On the edge of art" has a strong link with social and aggregation, but all through art. There are more and more projects and installations of collective works around Monza, Brianza and often also in several Italian cities, the last with the Casentino museums. Alliances, synergies, branches and always different collaborations are created. The group also moves on call and there are more and more frequent invitations to artistic, cultural and socializing events that require the artistic collaboration of the group.

Throughout the duration of the exhibition a rich calendar of collateral initiatives will animate the museums and ecomuseums involved; workshops, animated readings, market exhibitions, seminars will be organized. Furthermore, on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th July, the museums and ecomuseums with the participation of the Italian Center of Photography of Bibbiena will welcome photographers taking part in the "Photographic Invasions" event promoted by the Milanese association "Il Ponte degli Artisti". The initiative offers to all the photographers who will take part in the photo tour the free entry to the Casentino Museums and Ecomuseums. All images will be included in a photographic collection that will be promoted on the web through connected social networks, to make known the works and places visited. Finally, in the autumn period, it is planned to organize an exhibition dedicated to a selection of the shots made in Casentino.
